The release of Cyberpunk 2077 PC on December 10th. is getting closer and closer and still not all technical details are known. For example, there is still rather rudimentary information about the system requirements of Cyberpunk 2077 and CDPR has not yet let the cat out of the bag with the setting options. Okay, at least on the latter topic there is now information.

Under Settings – Graphics there are already 25 general settings for graphics – without ray tracing, dynamic resolution, or HDR. For players who don’t feel like experimenting, CD Projekt Red offers a global controller at the top that ranges from Low, Medium, High to Ultra – and also offers Raytracing Medium and Raytracing Ultra. Depending on the switch setting, the options below also change. Of course, the PC player can also adjust all switches individually. In addition to the quality of the textures (low, medium, high) there are also settings for the field of view (numerical value), effects that can be switched on or off, such as film grain, chromatic aberration, depth of field, and lens flares. The motion blur can be set a little more granularly.

In the Advanced area there are contact shadows and improved lighting geometry (each on or off). The anisotropic texture filter knows settings between 1 and 16, with the following settings for shadows there are usually three options (low, medium, high): Local shadow meshes quality, local shadow quality, cascaded shadows (range and resolution), and shadow- Resolution in the distance. The volumetric fog resolution and cloud quality can be increased to ultra. The same applies to the maximum, dynamic decals (usually bullet holes) and the quality of the screen space reflections (reflections in the viewer’s cone of vision). The conclusion is formed by volume scattering, surrounding obscuration, color precision, mirror quality, and level of detail.

The area of ​​ray tracing is of course particularly interesting. We remember: RT Diffuse Illumination, RT Ambient Occlusion, RT Reflections, and RT Shadows are integrated as features. Cyberpunk 2077 offers four different switches for ray tracing: Ray tracing in general, reflections by ray tracing and ray tracing, and shadows can be switched on and off. The ray-tracing lighting can be set more granularly: There are Off, Medium, Ultra, and Psycho. We are excited to see what the last mode does.

Nvidia-exclusive is also the item DLSS in the menu item “dynamic resolution”. Many settings are possible here: In addition to Off and Automatic, there are Quality, Balanced, Performance, and Ultra Performance. The exact differences are not yet known. The dynamic scaling of the resolution should also be available on Radeons: When activated, the target fps can be set relatively freely in frames per second, and you can also select the minimum and maximum resolution in percent. Incidentally, the window mode has the options full screen, window mode, and window mode without borders.

Cyberpunk 2077 PC: HDR rendering

Cyberpunk 2077 also supports HDR rendering and there is a separate menu for this, which can be accessed directly via the settings. The maximum brightness (specified in nits), the middle of the curve for the necessary tone mapping (compression of the dynamic range of high-contrast images), and the basic brightness of the user interface (also in nits) can be selected. The HDR-10 modes available are HDR10 PQ (slightly brighter, but less color-intensive) or HDR10 scRGB (slightly darker, but more color-intensive).

The vertical synchronization (VSync) can be switched on or off when switching on certain intermediate levels (15, 20, 30, or 60 Hertz) are available.
